La Trappe is one of fourteen Trappist breweries in the world. Dating back to 1884, the brewery has a rich history brewing beer within the walls of the abbey under the supervision of the monks who fill their days with work and prayer.
The brewery contributes actively to a sustainable and socially-oriented society. Recently, Abbot Dom Bernardus consecrated the first Biomakerij in the Netherlands which won the Circular Award in 2019.
The spent grain left over from the brewing process is mostly donated to farmers to feed cattle and a portion is used to make bread from at the abbey.
In 2020, La Trappe added their first SKAL certified, organic beer, Puur.
