There’s been a change of the guard for the T20 Cricket this year, with the introduction of a new beer partner Bira 91. We’re excited to introduce you to India’s first independent craft beer. Recognisable by the cheeky monkey that characterises each beer style, bold, confident and fun-loving. The mascot represents the brewery’s value of community and will become a familiar face at the T20 Cricket World Cup having signed a five-year deal with International Cricket Council (ICC).
We’re particularly excited about the Women’s ICC Cricket World Cup this year, with the final being held on International Women’s Day.
The significance of the game goes further than sport-loving communities making a statement internationally on the importance of gender equality in all of life’s arenas. The T20 Women’s Cricket World Cup Final is being at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the world’s largest cricket ground by capacity, seating 100,024 spectators.
A sell-out of the final would mean breaking the world record for the highest attendance for a standalone women’s sporting event worldwide. This exciting challenge presents a stage for gender equality.
In Bengali, the word Bira means “the brave one”. We think it couldn’t be any more fitting.
